Brunei lose third game to Thailand
Thursday, May 18, 2017

Brunei fell 10-0 to hosts Thailand in their third game of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-20 Futsal Championship in Bangkok tonight.

Thailand were the better team throughout the match and the defeat could have been heavier if not for several good blocks from goalkeeper Ak Muhammad Asadullah Shafee Pg Hj Asaduzzaman and five Thai attempts which hit the post.

Brunei were unable to find their rhythm in the game but pressured their opponents well, defended as a unit and never gave up fighting.

The defeat came after a 14-1 loss to Afghanistan on Tuesday and a 6-1 loss to Iraq on Wednesday.

“The first half was alright but we made mistakes which could have been avoided,” said national futsal coach Qusmaini Noor Hj Rusli.

“Our aim today was to defend well and we managed to do so during many of Thailand’s attacks.

“We had a few chances to counter-attack, twice in the first half and four times in the second half, but we were not able to convert those chances.

“My target is to reduce the number of goals we let in and score one or two, and from there we can slowly see an improvement.”

Today’s other Group A games saw Iraq edge Afghanistan 4-3 and Malaysia beat Bahrain 6-1.

Brunei will face Bahrain tomorrow and close out their group stage campaign against Malaysia on Saturday.

Thailand lead the six-team group with nine points and are ahead of Iraq, who also won all three of their games, due to a better goal difference.

Brunei kalah game ketiga lawan Thailand
Khamis, Mei 18 2017
