Tuesday, July 11, 2017

The national Under-15 football team started their Asean Football Federation (AFF) Under-15 Championship campaign with a 0-0 draw against Timor Leste in Thailand yesterday.

Playing in their first international tournament, the team was unlucky not to come away with all three points against Timor Leste after missing a penalty.

"The boys performed well with good tactics and discipline in both attack and defence," said the team's manager Morni Zakaria after the game at the Chonburi Campus Stadium 1 in Chonburi, on the outskirts of Bangkok.

"Although the first half was a little rushed by both teams with the high transition of the game, we dominated with better play and good possession in the second half.

"We created enough chances to win the game, including a penalty which we unfortunately could not convert.

"The team will mature with more games and continual development," he added.

Brunei face Vietnam in their next game on Wednesday before taking on Malaysia on Friday, Cambodia on Sunday and closing their Group B play against the Philippines next Tuesday.
