Brunei lose to Malaysia in AFF Under-15 Championship

Brunei fell 3-0 to Malaysia in their third AFF Under-15 Championship game in Chonburi, Thailand, earlier today.

The result came after a slim 2-1 loss to Vietnam on Wednesday and a 0-0 draw against Timor Leste in Monday's opener.

"The experience of the Malaysians clearly showed in the game as we struggled with their interchanging of positions during their attacking combination play," said head coach Stephen Ng.

"The Malaysians are used to training in Europe, showing their composure especially their off the ball running, exposing our defence as we were not used to games of this nature back home.

"Despite the short coming, our boys fought a good battle with hard running and taking up good second defender covering position.

"We only conceded our third goal from their penetration play after a misplaced pass in midfield.

"The other two goals were conceded from long shots outside the box.

"This is a good lesson for our players and coaches as we need to find ways to expose our boys to higher level of play, especially in Asia's top playing level," he added.

Brunei next face Cambodia on Sunday and end their group stage play against the Philippines next Tuesday.
