Md Aminuddin Hj Masri credited his coaches and parents for his success during the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Under-16 Elite Youth Cup competition.

Not only did the Tabuan A player win the Top Scorer award after bagging 11 goals in the team’s three group stage games, and the third goal in their 3-1 win over Tabuan B in Friday’s final, the 15-year-old was also honoured with the Man of the Match award during the title decider.

Down 1-0 in the 18th minute, Tabuan A fought back to make it 1-1 in the 25th minute through Md Shafiq Hidayat Al Azim Shahrizam.

Tabuan A’s Md Addy Zaky Billah Hj Awang Raimi scored in the 52nd minute to make it 2-1, and his teammate Md Aminuddin kept his composure during a one-on-one with Tabuan B goalkeeper Abdul Talifie Talip eight minutes later to make sure Tabuan A defended the title they won last year.

“I’m proud to have won these awards… I didn’t expect it,” he said after the final at the Balapan Track & Field.

“I must thank my parents, my coaches, my teammates, and all the other people who have supported me.

“This title all came down to our hard work and training, and it is also important to always follow our coaches’ instructions.”
