Brunei lose to North Korea
Wednesday, September 20, 2017

National Under-15 head coach Stephen Ng said their 9-0 loss to North Korea in their third game of the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-16 Championship qualifiers in Chinese Taipei today was nothing to be ashamed of.

Brunei trailed 7-0 at the break against North Korea, who beat Macau 10-0 on Monday.

"For those that watched the game today, you would have seen that it was a very tough game with a big football gap between the two teams," said Ng.

"There is no shame on our team as our boys fought a good fight and gave everything they had.

"No head went down today and we tried our utmost best to compete.

"We will learn from this humble lesson and with the proper support back home, will continue to improve and hope that day we can play the North Koreans again on a more level playing field," he added.

Brunei started their campaign with a 4-0 win over Macau last Saturday and were unlucky to let in an injury time goal to hosts Chinese Taipei in a 2-1 loss on Monday.

Brunei end their qualifiers against Hong Kong on Friday.
