BRUNEI will face Timor Leste next year in qualifiers for a revamped 2018 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup.

Unlike previous editions where teams were based in two countries after being divided into two groups, this time teams will play in a home and away basis, according to the AFF website.

Ten teams will still be divided into two groups, but they will play home and away depending on the outcome of the official draw.

In accordance with the latest rankings after the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup, Timor Leste and Brunei will have to play in a qualifier which will also be held home and away.

The date of the two games next year will be on September 3-11, which is a FIFA calendar week.

The winner will then join the remaining nine teams to make two groups of five teams each.

The new format was announced last Saturday following the 12th AFF Council Meeting which was held in Bali.

Australia are not participating in the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup which will be played from November 8 to December 15.
