YOUNG referees and real-time updates are among the new features of Sunday’s Under-12 tournament at National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) House’s Artificial Turf.
The referees, all under the age of 20, have experience at the school-level - but this will be their first time on duty at an NFABD event.
The referees underwent a training program at NFABD House today under the guidance of Hj Hamidon Hj Md Zin, the head of NFABD’s Referee Department.
“Our plan is for them to eventually referee our youth leagues (NFABD Under-16 Youth League and NFABD Under-16 Elite Youth Cup) in the future,” said NFABD Technical Director Yvon Avry.
Another highlight of the half-day Under-12 tournament which is being organised for the second time is real-time updates of photos, videos, scores and standings on NFABD’s social media platforms (http://www.facebook.com/NFABDOFFICIAL, http://www.instagram.com/nfabdofficial and
http://www.twitter.com/NFABDOFFICIAL) as the tournament progresses.
The 16 participating teams have been divided into four groups of four and each team will play each other once in the first round.
In the second round, the four teams finishing first will play in one group, and likewise for the teams finishing second, third and fourth.
The champion will be the team which wins the first group.
Projek Ikan Pusu (PIP) A won the first edition of the tournament on September 5.
The public and football fans are invited to watch the tournament which starts at 8am.
