The national futsal team want to focus on the positives after returning from the 2017 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship yesterday.
They started their Group A campaign in Vietnam with a 13-0 loss to Myanmar before a 9-0 loss to Indonesia and an 18-0 loss to Vietnam.
However, they ended their tournament on a high note with a 5-0 win against the Philippines to finish fourth in the five-team group which was won by Vietnam and saw Myanmar finish as runners-up.
“We are happy we beat the Philippines and kept a clean sheet, especially after losing our first three games,” said the team’s manager Hj Abd Razak Hj Ibrahim after the team’s arrival back in Brunei yesterday.
“But I want to stress that despite those three losses, our spirit was still strong.
“Moving forward, we are confident we will perform better in the future,” he added.
National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Technical Director also said looking forward was the smart option for the team.
“We need to analyze the team’s overall performance to understand how we can improve in the future,” said NFABD Technical Director Yvon Avry.
Also present at the Brunei International Airport to welcome the team back was NFABD Acting General Secretary Roslin Suhailee.
