Executive Committee Members of NFABD

Mr. Mike Wong, NFABD Techincal Director as a course facilitator

Officials and staff of NFABD and

Dear Participants

I am honoured and privileged once again to be able to stand here as a guest of honour for the opening ceremony of AFC ‘C’ Certificate Course, which has been scheduled to commenced today 22nd January 2015 until 3rd February 2015.

I am happy to note that 16 participants including one from Spain have registered for this course. On behalf of NFABD, I would like to welcome Mr. Alain Barrantes for his support to come all the way from Singapore participating this course.

The NFABD is grateful for the strong and unwavering support that the football fans, including members of the public, give to our number one sport, FOOTBALL, and the NFABD is fully aware of our responsibilities in working for the best interest of Brunei Darussalam football.

In the NFABD Football Strategic Plan (2013), which was well endorsed by FIFA and AFC for the development of Football in Brunei Darussalam, one of the top priority is to develop quality coaches so that these coaches can further go out to develop players. We have targeted to develop 60 ‘C’ certified coaches for 2014 and equipped all of them with proper football education and know how.

Moreover, with effect from 2015, all head coaches involve in the NFABD DST Super and Premier Leagues must attain a minimum of AFC ‘C’ Certificate. While the head coaches of the NFABD DST Super League must attain an AFC ‘B’ Certificate with effect from 2016. Currently the NFABD’s head coaches in our youth teams hold a minimum of an AFC ‘B’ Certificate and the assistant coaches in our development program have at least an AFC ‘C’ Certificate. In short, Coaches Development Program is very important and as part of the football development as a whole.

The NFABD believes that with a structures youth development programme assisted by qualified coaches in our Coach Education program, we will progress to raise our football standards to compete in future regional and international competitions.

We can only build a strong and sustainable National A Team, if we have a strong youth development program, which can produce quality youth players. This can only be achieved, if we have a base of good quality coaches that we are in the progress of building.

Currently, under Grass Root and Youth Football Development Programs, the NFABD has U-12, U-14, U-17 and U-22 teams, therefore we can look forward to a broad base of quality players to form the National A team in the near future. The NFABD no doubt has invested a lot on these programs and hopefully the national teams that the programs could produce will be more competitive in the future competitions, including the next AFF Suzuki Cup 2016.

With the kalimah of Bismillahir Rahman Nirrahim, I officially declare the AFC ‘C’ Certificate Course Open.

Wabillahi taufiq walhidayah wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Thank you.
